ABOUT
Raine Higa’s life mission is to create good representation for the queer trans AANHPI* community through acting, singing, writing, and photography.
Since moving from Hawaii to New York, Raine has been blessed to star in musicals, new works, and films, from playing Charlie in Willy Wonka at Sunrise Theatre, to developing a new AANHPI musical, The Tale of the Gifted Prince with Broadway veterans Darren Lee and Kristine Bendul.
In addition to dramatic acting, Raine’s physical comedy shines as a member of The Slaysians (NYC’s first all-queer all-Asian improv team, probably) and has performed at Second City and BCC MainStage.
Raine was awarded the Camellia Collaborative Excellence Leadership Award for his acting as Bobby in Cabaret and the Davenport Award for Acting for his original feature play I Live for Cap-It-All. Under the mentorship of Queerean** playwright Nina Ki, Raine’s plays have been produced by the National Queer Theatre, and he was nominated for the Pushcart Prize for his poetry.
